The Problem

Shopify has over 1.75 million merchants. As per statistics, on average, 95% of new shopify store owners fail to reach success. Based on the feedback we have been receiving from our existing customers. We categorize the problems in 3 main domains:

What to sell?

Only 2 out of 10 merchandisers have the best selling products, remaining business owners are facing failures because they do not understand the market fits and trends.

How to sell?

Creating a combination of best sellers or identifying which products are best sellers for a particular market is a difficult task for any data.

Where to sell?

In a recent survey, it is indicated that 62% of the ecommerce products exist in irrelevant markets, which is a big reason for failure of many ecommerce businesses.

Personas

In order to understand the problem better, I would like to introduce you to the following Shopify merchants:

William

Sells gaming PCs. Doing good but struggles with sales or wants to expand.

What he wants – increase sale

What he does – search the internet and install apps like analytics, cross-selling, upselling, reviews, retargeting, etc.

What he needs – (how to sell) a tool that analyzes stores data and gives him smart suggestions

    William

A new Shopify merchant – wants to sell apparel.

What he wants – makes an impact in the apparel industry and be successful.

What he does – invests in setting up a store like a theme & apps, etc. Soon either John will quit or will become the next William🙂

What he needs – (what to sell & where to sell) Since the apparel industry is mature but still there are gaps and opportunities – John needs a tool that analyzes data and proposes which region or market has gaps in specific types of apparel which he wants to sell.
